Requirements
When Santeaim launched at the beginning of 2026 with a sophisticated new software application, they recognised a critical commercial reality. Their primary target markets of medical professionals and law firms and other businesses handle highly sensitive and confidential data. For these professionals, data privacy and absolute system availability are strict regulatory, ethical and legal obligations.
To win market share and build immediate trust, Santeaim’s requirements included:
- Optimising the security maturity of the organisation: Building comprehensive policy, risk management and operational frameworks from day one.
- Ensuring the product was developed securely: Protecting a platform built to streamline workflow complexities, manage case files and process patient histories.
- Providing responses to client security related queries: Anticipating the intense vendor scrutiny common in the medical sector.
- Achieving a robust, independent audit: Securing third-party validation of their resilience in a timely and cost-effective way.
Implementation
Engagement with Santeaim focused on moving them beyond self-assessment and preparing them for a rigorous, live third-party audit. Having already executed an initial security sprint on their own momentum, including achieving Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus (CE+), completing product penetration testing, and securing ICA Level 1, Santeaim engaged White Hawk Solutions as their independent assessor to bridge the gap to full Level 2 certification.
White Hawk Solutions conducted a deep operational review to map Santeaim’s existing controls against the 13 comprehensive themes of the IASME Cyber Assurance standard. This implementation phase involved verifying technical boundaries, stress-testing asset management procedures and validating their incident response and business continuity plans.
We worked closely with Santeaim to ensure their policies weren’t just written down, but were practically embedded into their daily workflows, preparing them for live assessor interviews and full documentation verification.
Challenges
One of the key challenges of supporting an organisation whose primary clients are medical professionals and highly regulated businesses like law firms and insurers was the uncompromising demand for absolute data governance and risk management. Because this sector operates under strict regulatory controls, Santeaim faced incredibly complex procurement barriers.
High-profile clients routinely expect vendors to hold ISO 27001. However, for an agile SME, ISO 27001 often represents an insurmountable challenge. Frequently costing thousands to implement and introducing administrative bloat that can choke a growing business.
The challenge was implementing a governance model with identical defensive rigor covering data protection, supply chain risk and operational recovery, while keeping Santeaim agile. Stepping into a live Level 2 audit also meant Santeaim had to prove their security awareness was actively practiced by personnel, withstanding thorough independent verification rather than just relying on a paper checklist.
Results
Because Santeaim had intentionally embedded and architected security into its operational DNA from the start of 2026, the independent audit was a resounding success.
Santeaim successfully achieved full IASME Cyber Assurance Level 2 (Audited) status within six months of company launch, standing alongside their CE+ and pen-tested product baseline. By achieving this, Santeaim has successfully established ICA Level 2 as a highly credible, UK Government-backed alternative to ISO 27001. They have unlocked the exact same level of commercial trust in healthcare procurement pipelines at a fraction of the cost and complexity.
Santeaim can now confidently answer (with evidence) complex security questionnaires from any prospective new clients with independent, audited proof. They have turned supply chain risk mitigation into a powerful growth engine, offering a highly secure, validated tool that protects both their business and the sensitive client data entrusted to them.
